Privacy Policy — Timbrys
Effective date: 2026-09-21 Last updated: 2026-09-21
Timbrys ("the app") is a voice practice app that shows the pitch, resonance and intonation of your voice, published by Balin Corp (Belo Horizonte, Brazil).
This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: nothing leaves your device. Your voice, your recordings and your practice history stay on your phone, and we never receive any of them.
What we collect
Nothing. The app has no user accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no third-party SDKs that collect data. It makes no network requests, so there is no server that could receive your data in the first place.
Microphone
The app asks for microphone access for one purpose: to hear your voice while you practise, so it can show you its pitch, an estimate of its resonance and the shape of its intonation.
- The app asks for access the first time you tap Start listening, never at launch.
- It listens only while you are practising, with the app open on screen. It does not listen in the background and stops when you leave the screen or the app.
- Audio is analysed on your device, in real time. It is never transmitted anywhere.
- You can refuse or revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings. The exercises, your targets, your history and the settings keep working without it.
What is stored on your device
So that you can look back at your practice, the app keeps the following on your device only:
- Recordings of your practice sessions, as audio files, when Record sessions is on in Settings. With it off, no recording is kept after the session ends.
- Session history: the date and length of each session, the pitch, resonance and intonation readings the app worked out, the pitch contour, and any note you type after a session.
- Your targets and your baseline: the pitch band you set and the reading of your everyday voice that resonance is compared with.
- Settings: theme, pitch unit, reference lines, haptics, session length and similar preferences.
None of this is readable by us, and none of it is sent anywhere.
Backups
Nothing the app stores is included in cloud or computer backups.
- On iPhone, the folder that holds your recordings and the folder that holds your session history, targets, baseline and settings are both excluded from iCloud Backup and from computer backups.
- On Android, the app turns backup off entirely, so nothing the app stores is copied to your Google account.
This also means that restoring a backup onto a new or replacement phone does not bring back your recordings or your practice history.
Deleting your data
- Settings → Your recordings → Delete all removes every recording and every session from your device. This cannot be undone.
- You can delete a single session from its detail screen, and record your baseline again at any time.
- Uninstalling the app removes everything it has stored on the device.
Sharing and retention
We do not collect any data, so there is nothing to share, sell or retain. No data is sold or shared with third parties, and no data is used for advertising or tracking. The app does not read from or write to Apple Health or Health Connect.
Purchases
Timbrys is a paid, one-time purchase sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. We receive no payment details and no personal information about you from your purchase.
What the app is not
Timbrys shows estimates of the sound of your voice, for practice. It makes no judgement about anyone's gender. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it is not a substitute for a voice clinician or a speech-language pathologist.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age, because it does not collect data at all.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA and Brazil's LGPD give you rights of access, correction and deletion over personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, change or delete; everything the app keeps is on your device and under your control, as described above. You are welcome to contact us to confirm this.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
